Stuff We Love: Landscaping Tools That Last
Be better prepared for anything that comes your way as a landscaper with these three tools we love.
3 Go-To Landscaping Tools
This week on Stuff We Love, Marty Dyck takes a look at three tools that landscapers should consider adding to their arsenal. They include a set of three pro-grade hand tools from Fiskars, a powerful hedge trimmer and a... machete? Yep, there's a machete.

Saying that Fiskars has "been around the block" would be an understatement- the company has been designing and producing tools since 1649, making them one of the oldest companies in the world. So when we heard that the company behind those famously orange-handled scissors was releasing a line of landscaping hand tools specifically for pros, we knew we had to take a look.
So we got our hands on a Digging Shovel, a Transfer Shovel, and a Pro Garden Rake, and the tools did not disappoint. Each is well-weighted and sharp, easily gouging through dirt and clay. The handle is particularly nice, with a thick rubber coating and nicely formed grips.
A hedge trimmer that Worx
This hedge trimmer from Worx is a beast. It runs off of two compact 20V batteries, giving the tool impressive power without making it too bulky or cumbersome. With great safety features and an impressive cutting capacity that can trim hedges up to 3/4" thick, the Worx Cordless Hedge Trimmer is definitely a tool every landscaper should check out.
Welcome to the jungle
Gerber describes this knife as "the natural evolution of the traditional jungle machete", and they are not wrong. Gerber's Broad Cut Machete has a wide, curved, blade, like a traditional machete, but with a slight hook added on one side that makes it easy to slice through smaller vines and branches. Whether you are planning a jungle safari or need to hack through some shrubs, this is the knife for you.
