When it comes to splicing stranded wires, there’s definitely a right way and a wrong way to go about it. You can’t really just take two strands and weave them together in a makeshift knot- the connection will not be very strong and the splice will be able to be pulled apart way too easily. Instead, the best way to splice two wires together is to wrap one tightly around the other (watch the video below to this in action). This method is the best way to interlock wires because it will give the splice the most continuity and can be soldered for a very solid connection. Plus, when you wrap the splice in heat-shrink tubing the splice will be relatively lump free. For more on wires and cables, click here.
