Stay-Put Edge Banding

Show that unruly edge banding strip who's boss

When you’re edge-banding, Ken Geisen (who happens to operate a cabinet shop), suggests this trick. Make a quick, light pass with the iron just to tack the banding in place. Then run over it again more slowly, following right behind the iron with a thick piece of metal (a splitting wedge works nicely). The metal sucks the heat out of the veneer to make the adhesive set up immediately. That means your edge banding won’t pop free right after the iron passes.
