It takes a lot of tools to make it in the construction world. Every project comes with its own unique challenges. It’s almost impossible to tell which tools will be needed on any given day. That means you need to have most of your tools on hand all the time, and that requires a bunch of space.
In order to accommodate all those tools, I normally equip my trucks with three toolboxes, one saddle and two low sides. It’s amazing how much gear I can cram into these boxes and still have space to haul a ton of stuff in the bed. A half dozen tall windows and doors will fit easily between the side boxes, and I can slide a bunch of lengthy lumber under the saddle box.
I’ve tried a few different brands in the past, but I’ve had my best luck with WEATHER GUARD truck storage boxes. Their locks seem less susceptible to dirt and freezing rain. And the latches are sturdier, which is important because tools are expensive, some are REALLY, REALLY expensive. And as far as the cost of the boxes is concerned, the WEATHER GUARD DEFENDER SERIES is a great value.
WEATHER GUARD boxes are available in steel and aluminum. The white and aluminum are nice because they don’t heat up in the sun like the black ones. But I still buy the black aluminum diamond plated boxes because they look awesome on my truck.
I ordered the boxes for this truck at www.mytruckbox.com. The site has a super simple toolbox selection tool. I just entered the make and size of my truck. It then asked me what style, size, color and locking options I wanted. My selection results ended up at www.homedepot.com and the boxes themselves were ready for pickup within a week. I had them shipped to the Home Depot closest to me, but having them shipped right to my house was also an option. Nothing could have been easier.
